The Science Behind Us

sleep ergonomics is the science of vitality

The spinal column is one of the most vital parts of the human body, because it provides the main support to allow all movements possible; whilst protecting the spinal cord from injury.

The well-designed structure of the spine serves many functions and maintaining this spinal curvature through proper posture while sleeping and lying is vital for decreasing stress, muscular pain and preventing fatigue for overall good health.

Our years of experience in sleep ergonomics identified two main spectrum of postural discomfort:

1. Upper body postural discomfort (areas concerning neck, shoulders and middle back).

2. Lower body postural discomfort (areas concerning lower back and hip).

Numerous research also points to the benefits of a mattress being individualised to fit individual needs with spinal alignment in supine, being supported in a similar posture to that in standing (Radwan et. al. 2015).
